Jiu Jitsu

Jiu Jitsu was one of the empty hand/unarmed combat disciplins of the Japanese Samurai, the Bushi, or warrior class. If a Samurai lost or broke his sword in battle, he resorted to striking and grappling techniques to defeat his enemy.

There are many diffrent schools, systems, or ryu, of Jiu Jitsu. Each ryu tends to have its own specialty........ Brazillian Jiu Jitsu pioneer Helio Gracie created the system of Jiu Jitsu that we teach known as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu....If you dedicate yourself to our dojo you will learn the highest quality of skills and methods needed to become a well rounded Ground tactician.

Jiu Jitsu means, "the gentle art", but don't let the literal translation of the term fool you. Jiu Jitsu involves choking your opponent to the point of loss of consciousness or submission. Jiu Jitsu also employs techniques of spraining, dislocating, and breaking joints and bones and exerting pressure points against sensitive nerve centers of the body causing great pain. Take downs and counter take downs, including throws, flips, slams, punches and kicks is also an integral part of the art..........

Jim Grover pointed out that, "sometimes people end up on the ground because people don't know how to keep things from "going to the ground". The first rule of grappling or "going to the ground" is to avoid going to the ground all together unless you have no other choice......... Should a situation go to the ground, then it becomes crucial that you know exactly what to do to save your life, if on the street. Or to gain the advantage if you are cage fighting. The idea, when on the ground is to get back on your feet, no matter what. Especially if in a street altercation.
